The Wii remote is the primary controller for the console. There is infrared detection and in-built accelerometers to sense the location in 3D space when pointed the sensor is pointed to the Sensor bar. Such a design permits users to play and manipulate the game through the use of traditional button presses and also include more revolutional physical gestures.

The controller communicates with the console through Bluetooth technology, therefore, it is wireless. The remote also has a rumble and an internal speaker. The device can be used along with the Nunchuk unit so that the left hand is able to control the game too. The nunchuk has a traditional analog stick and an accelerometer with two trigger buttons.
